A Touch of the Spiritual Side

I'll be honest, I usually keep my deep thoughts -aka my spiritual side- out of my blog. There is a number of reasons why, but despite all of those reasons I would like to take a moment to divulge in these spiritual thoughts and feelings.

I was on MormonTimes expanding my horizons on the Mormon news around the world, when I came across an article discussing the many different lessons one learns from partaking of the sacrament every Sunday. It was not the stories or little hearsays that was said in the article but, it was a simple question that was posed: "Why do they tear the bread?" Now usually I would just overlook this question and just think of it as a 'neat article,' but the response kind of through me for a loop. "The hymn rang out in my mind: bruised, broken, torn for us — and a picture came to me of Jesus with his arms outstretched, the spikes being driven through his hands and His flesh tearing." Wow. I have never considered this before. That part of the sacrament just became a lot more significant to me. Bruised, broken, and torn not just for everyone else but for me individually and specifically. I am not the person that likes causing someone pain or hurt especially if it is on my behalf. The feeling of trying to explain my feelings about this response is indescribable.

Consider now this picture:
Just take a few minutes to really examine this painting.

I would like this painting for my house. It takes on a whole different meaning of the true purposes of the Sacrament. Just admire the fine details: the old man who is practically falling asleep, the little children's faces of pure innocence, the little boy who is walking towards the Savior, the awe in the woman's face as she beholds who the passer of the Sacrament really is, and most importantly how you only see the hand of the Savior with the nail prints. It's just so powerful. If we all really thought about who this is for, and what would we do if the Savior really did pass the Sacrament? In a sense he is passing the Sacrament through the priesthood holders. Really have you considered that?

Sometimes I have these moments where everything just makes sense, everything just seems so divinely planned. I understand. These are the moments I live for.

I have started trying once again to get through Jesus the Christ. I have read many parts of the book before but not the entire thing. Thus far, it has engrossed me and magnified me to a new level of understanding and spirituality. Every day, more and more, I come to recognize and know the face of my Savior, my redeemer and it's changing me in way that I cannot begin to describe. Big things are around the corner my friend.
To_the_rescue
Also, on a different note, I am currently reading To the Rescue: Biography of Thomas S Monson. What an amazing book! I highly encourage you to read it. It is so fascinating to learn about the Prophet and to hear the stories. I have found myself learning so much about this man of God, and also laughing until my sides hurt, and underlining like crazy things that I like. I am only a few chapters in but wow I have been getting so much out of it. It is also very inspiring. It is a stake goal for my parents stake. I decided to also take on the goal. Totally worth it.

This is also very cool: My cousin, Dayne, is in a church music video for the youth and it's played all over the world. He was one of two people from Georgia to be chosen. He sings also. Check it out:

I am so proud of him. Seriously, he is going places in life. The boy is freakin amazing.

Well, until next time. Maybe I'll indulge you more into my deeper side again sometime.

day 41:still tickling the fancy eh? I am eating valentine's day conversational hearts. I love them. They are delicious and as an added bonus they say cute sappy love things. How do you like them apples? ps the white ones are the best.

I would also like to say, that I love love love reading blogs. A lot. and I especially enjoy the witty, comical ones...thanks for entertaining me and making me really think

day 42: oh heavens...bad habits. yikes. well I tend to keep my room a mess--not good. I also don't cook as often as I need too. I sometimes slip or well let the truth out about how I really think about individuals, especially if it's something they really need to correct and others have noticed it also. I like making people better. ha.And I am sure there are a lot others--ask Breckie poo

day 43: favorite place

In case you don't get it, my favorite place I love to be is home. I love being home with the people I love. Cheesy, sappy- you love it.

day 44: The sky in general fascinates me, especially the stars. I can't explain why, but when I look at them I know I am not alone. I know that I have a purpose. And I know everything will turn out to be perfectly okay. Besides...they are so dang breath-taking.

day 45: Dear me a year ago....
First of all, I know you're still getting adjusted to moving to Utah for no reason. Oh but there is a reason, a very very very very good reason why you moved here, and it's not just because of school. You'll find out. Second of all, you're going to come in contact with a lot of well, jerks, they'll date you and trick you and hurt you...stay away from the jerks. Go with that gut feeling you have when they first try to ask you out. Just say no. Also, make sure you notice the little things in life, you'll regret that you took them for granted later. And Stephanie, I am warning you, you are about to take on the hardest trial of your entire life. It will tear you down. You will literally find yourself at rock bottom and the rocks will keep falling on you. And you won't imagine everything you will have to endure...but keep going. Keep the faith, and keep smiling. You'll learn a lot from this trial and really grow a strong testimony of the power of God. You'll also learn a lot about the atonement and what it personally does for you. Just remember during all of this, not to listen to all the voices around you. You know what you want in life, only you can decide who you want to be and what you want out of life. And the good news is you'll also be have one of the happiest days of your life thus far. You'll say yes. =) Go to the temple lots, weekly. You'll find your answers there. Always turn to your family, they got your back. And be careful in whom you put your trust in. You're beautiful. Never forget who you are.
 Love, me
P.S When the time comes to sell your contract say no.

day 46: pictures of my life
I am skipping it. I'll put pictures up later gater.

day 47: my birthday is way too far away. I really just want things to be taken care of...and I understand that no one really knows what that means but I do so let's go with that. I also would like to go to a concert of someone I really like...however, I don't know who will be in Utah this year. And I want to go to Harry Potter World...that is all. Well, for now that can be all.

day 48: gag...I look awful

day 49: please refer to my new year's resolutions for goals. Plans? Maybe stadium of fire? GA? Fl for my brother's wedding, my wedding, school?, maybe move back to Georgia? hmmm.

day 50: Dear reflection...please be happy. sad eyes. j/k. Get sleep is more like it. But really you're beautiful. Go to the gym though. And get a tan. And please do something with your mess of a hair. Also, get some clothes that actually fit you. Like I said though you're beautiful. ha.

TA-DAH!! All done. Finally. Months later. On to bigger and better blog posts.
xoxo

And when we landed you handed the phone to me and I spoke to your wife who said "this is one of the best men out there, you find yourself a man like this. He'll make you happy forever. Find a man that loves you and respects you." Then you went on your way to go off to your business meetings and I went to meet my aunt, but you told me it was so wonderful meeting you. It was like we've met before. And you leaned over kissed me on the cheek, like old friends and wished me the best of luck in the my future- I did the same. You said, "see you later." And you know what? One day I think I will. Thank you kind stranger for befriending me and helping me step out of my shell a little bit. And you're right one day we may meet again.

Oh you knew it was coming. It's that special time of the year....boooooom. - I love doing this I hope you know.-

  2. Get married to my awesome and oh so wonderful fiancé. But that's basically a given, I just want to put it on here. =)
  3. Finish reading a book monthly.
  4. Read scriptures daily for 10minutes. I need to make I a habit again, I slacked this past year. blah
  5. Pray at least every morning and night.
  6. Keep my life more organized and clean. -Keep apt and room cleaned, planning, etc.-
  7. Be more frugal with my money.
  8. Don't stress about things that are out of my control.
  9. Finish my scrapbook.
  10. Try not to shut down when I get upset or angry.
  11. Don't eat after 10. I would say 9 but that may be pushing it.
  12. Actually let others help me and stop trying to take on everything by myself.
That should do for now. I might add more later. Now, I expect each and every one of you to take the time and write your own reachable new year's resolutions. Wahoo NEW YEAR! Here's to a hopefully good one. *Cheers!*
