Quiet Book

I've been wanting to post this for a while. I completed my quiet books for my niece and nephew. This is the first time I have ever made one. It was A LOT of work, and sometimes I just wanted to give up and just buy one. Ha. I'm glad I didn't and I think they turned out decently. They are for children so they most likely won't last long. I'm okay with that. It's from the heart. Of course, now that I made them, other ones I make in the future will be better. Eventually I'll make one for my own children. Who knows, maybe as my nieces and nephews grow I'll add pages or make one for each child. Ha. So here's the finished project. It's self explanatory I think.

The pictures are mainly from Jackson's book. Zara had different colors and more girly, but very similar. ( The last two pictures are from her book).

If you're curious what I used and did, the best advice I have for you is to play around with different things. I know others who made quiet books used hot glue or sewed everything by hand. I didn't want to do that. If I had more time I probably would have sewn it together. Anyways, I used pellon for the pages and muslin on top. I used fabric markers, felt, Velcro, felt glue ( a lot, a lot of felt glue), and a serger. Voila!

Herod's Tomb

Apparently archaeologist have found King Herod's tomb ( or so they believe). They are doing a reconstruction and opening an exhibit, called "Herod The Great", in
the Israel Museum in Jerusalem. Ironic to call him 'The Great' when indeed he is was not. He was cruel and a jealous man. I wonder how he acquired that title.

However, I do love to learn about history and experience things from a part of someone's life.

This is a weird thought, but this is how I think sometimes. What if all these things that people find and put on display in museums don't really belong to those people? What if someone is up in heaven and they are saying- hey that's not theirs its mine! Funny right?

Oh random thoughts.

I'll tell you a secret.

Want to know a little secret? I've kind of always wanted to go on an archaeology dig. I think bones and finding out the history of them ( a glimpse of the life of that person or animal) is pretty exciting! I won't ever pursue it. Too much information you have to learn first. I don't have the motivation and excitement to learn everything for that. Just one of those random little things about me.

This is what reminded me of my little interest.

Flash Mob

I saw this on Deseret News. What a great way for the youth to share your testimony. This makes me happy! The church is true!

Hope the video works. If not go to YouTube. Ha

Boredom, at its finest

I am not the type to get bored very easily but when I do it's like I can't find anything to entertain me. Like now....

I'm at work. Ha. And I'm writing in my blog on my phone. This could be a good thing. I miss blogging.

I'm slightly irritated that no one can fill out a deposit slip and keep asking me to do it for them because they are busy on the phone. Get it together people! - especially in the drive-thru.

I'm also hungry. This 11am lunch is so not working out for me. By 3 I'm starving. Ha.

In other news I'm starting a diet. Say what?! It's the new Shaklee 180 program ( weight watchers 360 stole the idea. Ha) Anyways, 90 days to lose weight and 90 on how to keep it off with good habits. I'm not really doing it to lose weight- however that is awesome and needed! It's more so I can get healthy. That way I can have energy, and not be dizzy, and actually getting three meals a day, and also get all my nutrients I need through the vitamins. Yay! New year - new me! Are you interested in joining me on the 180 program? Let me know! It has all these cool online and mobile things where you can track things and you can win prizes! Like a trip to Paris!

Um, what else? I've been reading lots of books. Like a book every couple of days. Still it's never enough time. Too many books to read and not enough time! I don't even remember what I've read. I read a couple of series but nothing like " oh my gosh you have to read this!" Some of them were YA. I love YA. Ha. I am reading " The Beginning of Better Days: Divine Instruction to Women from Joseph SmIth" It's really good thus far. I think it's an appropriate book for men too. I'm also reading doctrinal commentary of the Book of Mormon. I just barely started. My brother suggested it. So far it's very insightful and I like having the verses there so I don't have to flip from book to scriptures and get lost.

I like a new year. I love that we are now studying D&C and Lorenzo Snow in church. And speaking of church, I love having 11:30am services. Wonderful! A day to sleep in some!

I feel like 2013 is my year!
