Can I just ask, where has the time gone? It's true what they say, the older you get the faster time goes. So not cool. It's May. It just seemed like it was January yesterday. Can we just freeze time? Just for a little while. I've been evaluating my life recently (I do this a lot actually) and my conclusion is this:
- I'm not nearly where I thought I would be or where I want to be at this point in my life.
- I will probably never go back and read through my journals. Maybe when I'm really old and want to reminisce on my life. However, I hate reading back over them. Journals are my way of escaping, putting things behind me and never having to look back.
- I look towards the future. I do not want the past to haunt me, and I have a hard time living in the presence without looking to the future.
- I'm a pretty friendly person, but I have a very hard time getting close and trusting. Well not trusting, but giving people the opportunity to get to know me better. I tend to hold myself back.
- I think of myself as a very patient person, but recently the patience has been tested. Probably a good thing, but still difficult.
- Sometimes what I need more then anything is to have a deep, meaningful conversation. Particularly on spiritual matters but really life in general is always a good topic. But I don't have those conversations very often nor do I have people I can turn to to just have those. I think having meaning and purpose makes me tick.
- I am way too hard on myself, but I do not know how to lighten up.
- I hate conflict. I know lots of people do, but I especially do. I do not handle it well. When I'm surrounded by it, when I'm in it, when I have to deal with it. I hate yelling, fighting, arguing, debates, basically negative feelings. I freeze, tense up, can't stand my ground. And usually I stay quite or try to advert the situation.
- I need to step out of my comfort zone.
- I love so many things in my life, and I am extremely blessed well beyond what I deserve.
I don't know if I mentioned this before but I took the Myers-Briggs test. (Which is basically like a personality test that is usually pretty accurate. Kinda like the color test but more specific. And we all know how much I love learning about personalities and well myself). I took part of one. The full test is like $50 to take or something, and much more correct. My results were that I am a INFJ. Which stands for Introverted, iNtuitive, Feeling, Judging. I am one of the rarest types. Only 1% of the population is this type. And let me tell you, they got me dead on. Everything about this type is me to a T. It's incredible how accurate it is. This is the part where I go on about all the different characteristics and attributes a INFJ person has, but that's a lot of researching and typing. So if you want to learn more about, and understand me better I suggest you Google it. It's all very fascinating. Or you should take the test and find out more about yourself. Eh eh?
Also, as a side note can I just say how annoying the screaming that is constantly going on outside in the courtyard of my complex is? Talk about obnoxious! I may start opening my window and screaming back just to get a reaction. Is it really necessary to scream? Is your life in danger? Are you about to die? If not shut up! Courtesy people, come on now. I do not mind them having a good time, I'm a girl who loves having fun believe me I get that. But, when it is 11pm-2am or even later the screaming has got to stop. Go to bed! It drives me nuts I tell you, absolutely nuts.
Do you ever have those days when you just shouldn't have gotten out of bed? Yup that day would be today for me. blah.
I bought a book the other day at Barnes and Noble. It's called the Book of Awesome. And it is indeed awesome. It's about getting excited about the little stuff and enjoying the everyday simple things in life. For example: the cold side of the pillow, waking up before your clock and realizing you still have time to sleep in, universal fry-sharing policy, fixing electronics by hitting them, the perfect milk to cereal ratio....and on and on. Fabulous yeah?! Oh it is. I find myself laughing a lot at the small things in life. Here's the link for the website it's basically the same as the book. check it out!
I have a new calling. I am the Ward Music Director. Yikes! Actually, I think it's a fabulous calling for me. However, I think it is going to be challenging. My main duties are picking the songs for Sunday, coming up with musical programs (easter, Christmas, whatever), getting musical numbers together (choirs, duets, solos), attend ward council, lead if the chorister is not there, and other things. I was asked to be in charge of choir as part of this calling. I never say no to callings and I try my best to say yes knowing the Lord knows what He is doing, but I just couldn't say yes. The task of being in charge of the choir was beyond my capability. I went in to a panic attack when the bishop asked me to. Finding music, working on separate parts, making it all come together. I just didn't see how it was possible. So I said no, knowing there are others more qualified for being in charge of choir. So he's getting someone else to be the choir director. But, I do get to oversee choir and have input. So that's good! I think this will be a very good calling for me, I'm just interested to see the challenges and how things will work. haha.
The General Conference Ensign magazine has officially come out. I'm beyond excited. I can now read the talks and highlight away! eek!
My roommates and I have decided this Friday is speak in third person day. It's a lot of fun. Stephanie thinks this a very good idea, and Stephanie thinks the readers of this blog will also enjoy taking part of this special day. Stephanie says join in on the action. haha
Until next time my loves...
xoxo
